Michigan Restorative Justice Summit Check-In 2026

A little under one year ago, in October 2025, The Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) hosted the first statewide biennial Michigan Restorative Justice Summit — a gathering of over 300 attendees and 34 speakers, including keynote speaker Dr. Fania E. Davis. Together, we explored how to create spaces of dialogue, expand our practice, disrupt systems of colonization and oppression, and advocate for criminal legal reform in our communities.

We are looking to reconnect with the community and are hosting a virtual check-in where we will gather as a whole and then you’ll join a community circle to reflect on where you’ve been, where you need support, and where we go from here.

Breakout Circles (reflecting the three Summit themes):

• RJ Facilitator Skill Building — continuing to build and sharpen our practice
• Youth & Schools — restorative approaches in educational spaces
• Systems Change — advocating for reform and disrupting oppressive systems

We’ve put together a Google Form to register for the check-in, which includes reflection questions to help guide your thinking before the zoom gathering. Even if you are unable to attend, we encourage you to take a look at the questions to self-reflect and have your own personal check-in. Do not feel obligated to answer all the questions on the form — but please do let us know whether you plan to attend so we can plan accordingly.
