MEDIATION SERVICES COORDINATOR POSITIONS
Mission:
The Dispute Resolution Center offers affordable, constructive, restorative and healing approaches to conflict resolution for the residents of Washtenaw and Livingston counties.
We have been working with individuals, schools, families, and businesses to build peaceful communities since 1983, and are one of 16 Community Dispute Resolution Programs (CDRP) in Michigan.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that is funded by the Michigan Supreme Court, service contracts, foundations, and individual donors.

Full time and part time opportunities available.
Full time = 40 hrs/week
Part-time = 20 hrs/week
JOB DESCRIPTION
Areas of Responsibility:
- Client services and case management for residents, organizations, businesses, and schools in Washtenaw and Livingston Counties
- Volunteer relations
- Some database management
Reports to: Executive Director & Assistant Director
Duties and Responsibilities may include:
- Follow-up, address, and explain mediation process and steps to parties for case inquiries and court referrals regarding small claims, landlord/tenant, general civil, organizational, business to business, and other civil matters.
- Case management, including, but not limited to: intake, scheduling, data entry, coordination with volunteers, submitting documents to the court (if applicable), creating case files, and agreement writing.
- Apply appropriate screening methods to determine case acceptance for mediation.
- Perform case follow up activities with parties, courts, legal counsel, and internal case reporting.
- Provide administration and set-up of in-person and virtual/zoom mediation services – some travel may be required.
- Assist with outreach activities for current and potential referral sources and partners, in coordination with leadership.
- Attend State Court Administrative Office training for continued education to stay-up-to-date with mediation practices, court rules, protocols and processes.
- Assist with other outreach and mediation program development opportunities for the organization.
Skills:
- Must have knowledge of and/or experience in facilitative mediation, restorative practices and other conflict resolution practices, methods, approaches, and techniques.
- Must work with and maintain a high level of integrity, code of ethics, neutrality, and confidentiality with case work.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Able to work independently and in a hybrid in-person/remote working environment.
- Able to work with diverse populations.
- Able to work effectively and professionally with referral agency staff.
- Able to work with volunteer Mediators and Facilitators.
- Able to work within timely deadlines.
- Proficient with MS Office/Suites, especially; MS Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
- Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and own reliable transportation.
- Ability and willingness to travel to program locations within service area.
Salary: PT starts at $23,000; FT starts at $46,000
