A mediator is a neutral third party who can help people in conflict find solutions and come to agreement. Mediators learn skills which can be used in personal relationships and professional situations. Participants will learn:
The Dispute Resolution Center offers a 40-hour General Civil Mediation Training once per year. Specifically we offer general civil and private practice trainings, advanced trainings, and workshops applicable to effective mediation.
This training has been approved by the Michigan State Court Administrative Office (SCAO).
Who is this training for?
Educators, social service providers, health care workers, law enforcement professionals, managers, supervisors, real estate agents and community members - anyone who wants to learn about and use better conflict resolution skills in their professional and/or personal life.
Where does it take place?
The training happens from 9am-5pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for two weeks. The first Fri/Sat/Sun are virtual on Zoom and the second are in person at the Washtenaw Community College Business Building.
What if I can't attend all six days?
You must attend all days to achieve your certificate of completion.
