Michael Fried has maintained a long connection with the DRC where he is an active volunteer mediator and a former president of the board. He also helps manage the DRC's website.
After 27 years of service, he retired from the Wayne County ( Detroit ) Prosecuting Attorneys Office where he was the Chief of Administration. He founded and directed the Wayne Area ( Michigan ) Justice Information System (WAJIS). Prior to joining the Prosecutor’s Office he was the Assistant Director of the University of Michigan ’s Institute for Public Policy Studies and an Assistant Study Director at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research. He has served on the Michigan Criminal Justice Information System Policy Council (MCJIS) and various law enforcement and systems integration committees in Michigan .
He is Treasurer of the board of the Hebrew Day School of Ann Arbor and is a board member of Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County. He is also trying to improve his photography skills through classes at Washtenaw Community college.
He and his wife of 52 years, Liz, live in Ann Arbor as do their two children and four grandchildren.
